FIRST DRAFT OF "YOU ARE HERE'S" STATEMENT OF PURPOSE.

Mission:
To produce a half-hour newsmagazine show, comprising three to twelve segments with interstitials as appropriate, that informs and engages viewers in the affairs of Cambridge.
External objectives:
We will present real issues facing Cambridge's various communities; expose viewers to richly diverse perspectives that local residents bring to public affairs; identify ways that viewers can learn more about and become involved in community issues, affairs, and activities; and demonstrate the power of citizens, individually and collectively, to improve the quality of life in Cambridge.
Internal objectives:
We will provide an opportunity for members of the community to explore public affairs, including local angles on issues that affect the community and arts and cultural events, through creation of original programming. We will work to encourage members of CCTV to produce substantive and engaging newsmagazine stories with high production values.
Values:
We encourage member participation at all levels of the production process. We are an open and welcoming organization. We value transparent decision-making and diversity in all forms. We encourage a focus on the story and the city as the "star" of each segment. In order to give members a sense of ownership, to yield a greater range of voices and visions, and to garner a diverse set of stories, we will approach our goals whenever possible by making decisions through consensus.
